Why would anyone else living in your ex-partners household be responsbile for paying maintenance for your son? It is his income alone.
  • Your ex partner's income, plus any tax credits, are taken into account. Assuming his pay is over £200 a week, the first 15% will be disregarded because there is a child in the household. You should then receive 15% of the remainder. This amount is reduced if your ex has your son overnight on a regular basis (at least 52 nights a year).

If your ex earns less than £200 a week, the formula is slightly different, but I'm not sure how it works in that case.

Only your ex's income will be taken into account, as well as child tax credits as mentioned above, and the allowance for time spent with his son. However, if his lifestyle is inconsistent with his income, you can always get that checked.

This is a disgusting thing to say.How do you know he is paying for his new partners daughter and if he is it is none of your business.Your only concern should be your childs father paying for his child.I am the partner of a NRP, he pays through the csa, I work and earn good money and I can tell you now that money only goes to pay for MY children, I would not pay for my partners daughter - that is his responsibility not mine.
Why are you turning so bitter, have you got evidence that your ex is "fiddling the system", the economy has taken a downturn perhaps he is not being paid as much, lots of people have taken a pay cut.

My partners lifestyle is inconsistent with his income, but maybe that is because I earn a good wage and we have a good lifestyle, if there is overtime to be done - I do it.And we have a very small mortgage.

I agree. My ex pays for our children through CSA. I'm not the least bit interested in what his household income is and in fact it's none of my business. Our children are his responsibility not his new wifes and I would never expect her to be financialy responsible either.

If only more people were like you.

I'm a NRPP, my partner earns less than me, yet provides the bulk of childcare for our 2 children, freeing me up to work more (my earning capacity is higher than his), neither the CSA nor his PWC have ever liked this fact, been to Tribunal twice for this fact, and proven successfully twice now, that yes, I am the main wage earner in household, end of story, all treats etc are down to me, not my hubs who is NRP. Also the brand new car on our drive was not purchased out of spare pocket money the NRP and myself may have, it is a company car - didn't stop PWC taking photo's of the last Company car on our drive tho, and sending it to CSA telling them lifestyle inconsistent - of course form P11D proved her incorrect
