Drayton Manor - any top tips??

hi all,

taking our two boys aged 6 1/2 and nearly 2 to Drayton Manor tomorrow, courtesy of Mr T!

if anyone has any good advice they can share about how to keep the day as inexpensive as possible once we get there, much appreciated!

also any other general advice on how to make the most of the day. Though if the 2 yo has anything to do with it I don't think we'll be getting far beyond Thomas Land :)

cheers in advance,

  • Get there early - we went at this time last year and all the rides in Thomas Land were running by about 9:30 even though advertised opening is either 10:00 or 10:30. We'd been on eveything in Thomasland before most people got there.

Even if the rides don't open you can go round the zoo.

Drayton manor is not that big a site so we usually take a picnic and leave it in the car until lunch time. There are plenty of under cover picnic areas to eat at or we have even eaten on the grass by the car one trip. Apart from buying me and oh a coffee we don't usually spend any money once we are there. I am lucky that my kids now 8,,8, 11 know it is an expensive place to go (even with tesco vouchers) and never ask for ice creams or toys - in fact we never take them in any gift shops as there are far more interesting rides to go on. The only other tips i have is that at closing time the queues to get out the carpark are huge so we usually take snacks for then and sit around enjoying the end of the day until the crowds have gone. We also take waterproofs and spare clothes for everyone as the waterrides do get you very wet!
  • I would agree with getting there early and do the biggy rides first.
We found the food really expensive so we al took packed lunches. These all kep cool as we had frozen all our drinks so they acted as little ice packs!

    Have a fab day !
