Stupid Barclays PINsentry Thingymajic - Can I Log Into My Online Account Without It?

I don't mind these card-readers myself, but I do find that Barclay's implementation of them rather more cumbersome than the Co-op and RBS.0
-
I used it virtually every other day, it is very annoying but it had saved me times from a Never-ending queue in my closest branch0
-
So, the question is, is there anyway to get view your online statement the old school way? With your membership, card, and your security answer?
Change banks.
If you don't change your bank then other folk and other banks will start to believe that this sort of cumbersome over-the-top approach to security is the future. We'll all then be stuffed with this rubbish. It's the same herd mentality that enabled Microsoft for a good time to dominate the PC world.
You owe it to us all to change banks immediately. Please do your duty. Thank you.

Hey fellas. I think I may have found a break through here!
If you log into your online banking, on right hand side panel you will see "Manage Basic Access" once you click on this, it will give you the option to fill out a memorable word, for which you can use to log into your account without the need for PINsentry... So in the future, in order to save you from carrying around a calculator (;)) all you need to do is go to Barclay's log in page and towards the bottom you will see "Personal/Premier customers: no PINsentry card reader? Login using Basic Access" click this and your all set!
Hope this helps!0 -

You can't do a third party transfer/bill payment, nor can you set up a standing order when logging in via Basic Access. First party transfers are also limited to a certain amount, can't remember what the limit is though.0 -

Aww, you see, all I tend to want to do online is check my balance, or check previous statments for any given reason, and thats it.0 -

Then Basic Access is perfect for you, but if that's all you want to do then maybe you should revert back to the traditional membership? That way you're not having to put your date of birth and debit card number in every time.0 -
questionabout wrote: »Step1 ) Visit Barclays website > Logon
Step 2) Enter my Surname
Step 3) Enter my long 12 Digit Membership Number (that I did not pick)
Step 3) Enter last 4 Digits of my debit card
Step 4) Find pinsentry device and insert card and press Identify button
Step 5) Enter my Pin and Enter
Step 6) Read another 8 Digit Security Code of Pinsentry screen and enter in website
Finally Logged On
Now at this point, I should be able to put my Pinsentry device away but no
Step 7) Select Pay Bill/Someone
Step 8) Enter Name, Sort Code and Account number
Step 9) Enter Reference, Amount, Time of Transfer
Step 10) Repeat Similar Process with card as above
Step 11) Input 3rd Parties (sister) account number on to PinSentry Device
Step 12) Use Device keypad to re-confirm amount of Transfer
Step 13) Enter another security number on screen :wall:
This is one of the reasons why I left Barclays three years ago. It's a free market, if you don't like it, move.
For your ref... Nationwide only ever ask for you to use your 'pin sentry' device when you are processing a payment - not to log in.0
