Printer Problem

Options
I have been using a HP Deskjet 6890 for 5 years. I recently restarted my computer to factory settings for a fresh start. Now when I try installing the printer a message appears saying 'Not enough RAM'.

Do I need to buy some RAM?, How easy is it to fit? And the Cost?

Or

Is there any other way around from buying some RAM?

Many Thanks

R

Please can you say what your PC is and how much RAM it has already (hold down the Windows Key (bottom left of keyboard) and at the same time press the Pause/Break key.

And are you sure you have an HP Deskjet 6890, not a 6980?

    Windows XP Pro

    It is 6980, typo error.

    RAM is 224.

    Cheers

224 MB is very low for running any Windows operating system, even XP. I suspect for some unknown reason that HP thinks you should have at least 256 MB (the missing 32 MB has probably been nicked by your graphics card).

You could do with another 512 MB of memory, although another 256 MB would be enough to get over HP's self-imposed hurdle. Suggest you go to http://www.crucial.com/uk and either plug in all the details about your PC's manufacturer and model, or download and run their System Scanner tool program, so you can find out the costs of memory upgrades. Be careful to check that you have free memory slots available in your system unit (you should have, if you only have 256 MB of memory!)...
