I am looking at buying a laptop or netbook for a very specific requirement.
It will be sitting next to my hi-fi gear and permanently connected to the mains so battery life isn't important and neither is screen size ( actually smaller the better)
It will only be used for connecting to the net so I can listen to internet radio and Spotify AND for streaming live sports to my LCD TV,so therefore it must have some kind of audio out connection to mate up with my amp and tv out.

That's it really,what do you think ?

cheers
Daz

I'd try and track down an Acer Revo r3610, which has HDMI to connect to TV, digital and analogue audio, Gbit LAN and wireless keyboard and mouse. Makes a very good home theatre PC.

I believe you can also attach them to the VESA mount on the back of a flat screen TV to hide it away.

Here's one, but this version doesn't come with Windows which I presume you will want. Also note it doesn't have any form of optical drive.

If I was looking for a pc for general use that would probably be fine but I already have a pc upstairs.I don't really want a keyboard + mouse cluttering up my living room nor do I really want to have to turn on the tv every time I want to listen to some music.

Are there any laptops that would do a similar job ?

You don't say if you have an HDMI input on your LCD TV. If it's just DVI, you can get any Netbook which has a VGA output and then buy a VGA to DVI cable. £150 will do it.

If you need HDMI, there is the MSI Wind U230 or the MSI X410.

Not really that far from the price of a fully fledged laptop at £300 or under.

Yes I have HDMI on my telly but I'm not too bothered about that to be honest.
Do most netbooks have an audio out socket ?
I'm guessing I don't need too much in the way of processing power or memory...or am I wrong there ?
