Canon i250 printer problems

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.

A few weeks ago my printer wouldnt print any black text. After searching through various forums, someone suggested changing paper type to "photo paper". Sounds ridiculous but it worked, and has been printing perfectly well for a few weeks. However I tried to print off a letter last night, and my printer is printing everything in a pinky red colour, even though my letter is showing as black on the screen. Im at a loss as to how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Blocked printer heads, run a few cleaning cycles, or could be a cart leaking
