Hello everyone,
I had the free microsoft trial download of this software Office Prof 2003 and then uninstalled it (I know, I know!) I now have the code but my software won't install from disc, my question is - is there any way I can get the software I need without a code which I have already or Do I have to buy the whole thing new at a great cost?

Microsoft trial software lasts either 60 days or 90 days. You can't legally use the software without buying both the "Software Disc" & "User Licence" which entitles you to use the software. You would need to purchase the FULL product or UPGRADE if you already own a previous FULL product.
Hope this helps0 -
Hi creme,
As a sideways answer to your problem, why not use Open Office? It does just about everything MS Office does (other than Access database, but there's even a solution for that). It is file compatible with Word, Excel and Powerpoint so it reads and writes information for working with those applications.
The best point is it's ***FREE***. Look in at https://www.openoffice.com for free downloads. They also have user manuals which you can download for free and charts showing anything which works differently from Office. Unless you are a real power user you won't find any differences and the look and feel are very similar.Nice to save.0 -
Hi Bluevinney (are you a Dorset person by anychance?!)
thank you for that link, I think maybe it's https://www.openoffice.org or have I got the wrong one? ..just before I download any dodgy software!0 -
Hi creme,
Right on both counts! Fingers must have got carried away typing the url, must be all that cheese.
The .org is the right crowd. I'm still dialup so I used Freedownloadmanager which made downloading all those big files pretty painless. It works with IE and is smooth with Firefox if you load the Flashgot extension from mozilla.org
Hope you get on well with the software. As you will have seen there is lots of enthusiastic support around.Nice to save.0 -
Hi again BV,
Thankyou for your help with this, I have downloaded the software no problem but I must be having a blonde moment because when it is downloaded it sort of disappears?!
I have found the associated winzip file but can't open the open office doc through this altho I know it has been unzipped successfully, does this all make sense and have I gone horribly wrong somewhere!!?
PS i have tried reading the instructions - but am having a scratchy head moment or several...
PS 2 Are you deepest Dorset or coastal as a matter of interest ?0 -
Hi creme,
I had a quick look at my download from oo. My last one came as a self extracting zip file named OOo_1.1.3_Win32Intel_install. It's 45.0 Mbytes long.
A double click on the file starts the preparation and asks what folder you want it to unzip to. By default it creates a folder (mine's called 'OOo_1.1.3_Win32Intel_install') in the folder you are unzipping from and copies all its files there. When it's done that, open this new folder and nestling at the bottom along with readme and other text files is an application called 'setup'. Double click on that and it does what is says on the packet.
I've also copied down about 25Mb of documentation which mainly comes as word processing documents along with a few adobe format files.
Hope that helps. If not then either we can continue in this thread or just pm me.
Hey, it feels like deepest here, but at least the wires for broadband stretch this farand I'm near enough the sea to dip my toes in if I stretch my leg about 5 miles.
Best of luck with your download
