I thought you could get grout paint, kind of like tippex, you just run te tube/botle along the grout? Various colours too. It's in amongst the tile paint in DIY shops.

Indeed you can, but then it just looks like you have painted white lines between the tiles. If you are going to do it. do it properly.

  • Buy or borrow a dremel (or a cheaper make of similar tool) & remove the top layer of grout & refill it.

Doesn't take long to remove & it does it well.

  • I did my kitchen grouting recently, scrubbed with a toothbrush using bleach and water and then when dry I dabbed that white trainer whitener (with sponge on the end) over the grout and buffed off any that had got on the tiles when dry.

I saw the trainer whitener tip on here somewhere and the grout really came up a treat!

Oooh the trainer whitener sounds interesting! Does it act like a chemical to remove the stains or does it paint over the stains?

It paints over the grout to whiten it but try and remove any stains with bleach first.

Cost me 89p from Home Bargains and I did the whole kitchen with it - I only did one coat but you could go over it 2 or 3 times if you feel it needs it :D

Lol @ Keystone. Yes... except that I am currently working on another project and just wanted to know what I might need for tackling the next project which is the kitchen tile grout. Plus, I am disabled so it's not so easy for me to physically do it. I certainly won't be able to do the whole kitchen in one day - I will have to do it a few tiles at a time. :o

:D thanks for taking it as the joke it was meant to be. I've been half waiting for some humourless so-and-so to flame me for it.

    Cheers

I thought you were kidding, but there was also an element of truth to it and it did amuse me. It's so easy to sit around discussing things that need doing whilst sipping tea rather than actually getting on with the job! But to be honest I'm not quite ready to start tackling it, plus I'm a girly-wuss which is a bit of a hinderance...
