I have had the same letter from HSBC and I have never been overdrawn or had any bank charges. I get money paid in once a month and a contribute to a regular saver. I have written a complaint letter asking why, as they have given no reasons. The have not replied yet, but have closed my regular saver and returned the money without any interest. I shall be making further complaints and taking it further if nothing can be resolved.0

There is no CIFAS flag on her creit report. She has received credit report from Experian and Equafax.
It's abit strange - My syster was a regular user and now she's been given 30 days notice.
Myself I hold FD my main account and HSBC Current Account and Credit Card with 10k limit. Not used for some time. They should have gave me 30 days notice becuase I'm not a profitable customer.

Has anyone (more specifically your sister) actually rung/visited HSBC to ask *why* they're doing this?Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -

Yes, I did! They told me that I had not operated my account in a way that they were most happy with. I have never overdrawn and never incurred any charges. I was probably not profitable enough for them...0 -

Could it be that she is having problems paying commitments with other providers and that is making HSBC nervous?0 -
Now Im not accusing anyone of lying here but It has to be said, I find it very hard to believe that a bank would close an account for no good reason. Im sure it would either have to be managed very poorly (regularly overdrawn, charges incurred, bounced cheques DD etc) or perhaps something like withdrawing salary as soon as it is paid in, in other words just using the account as a mule.
I have an unused HSBC current account which has just 7p in it, and its been like this for at least 18 months. They haven't written to me saying their going to close it and im pretty sure they don't value me and my 7p above any other customer!.0 -
The BBC's Working Lunch show had a story on HSBC's account closure program today.
HSBC has 8.5 million current account holders in the UK, and told the BBC they are reviewing 270,000 accounts which are appartantly being "operated in a manner contrary to the details given by the customer" of which 10% (27,000) had been written too and informed their accounts were being closed.
This is a clip of the relevant part of todays show.
