And usually people arriving on anothers countries shores with no work and no money get lots of critiscm!

Or is that just people to this country?

Just here, Australia and USA (Democracy at its worst) i don't see anyone in Ivory Coast complaining that someone wants to live there, or Japan, or anywhere else except maybe Pakistan or any or the "stan" countries.

8 million are unemployed because the majority of those are so well rewarded for being lazy and manufacturing babies.

Widelats, you are the problem. Not the country. There are thousands of people across the country getting job offers every day. Why aren't you one of them?

By blaming the economy, and the country, you're suggesting that the problem isn't with you. Therefore you're probably not willing to change, and if you're already undesirable for an employer - you're going to stay that way.

Good luck with your emigration. I can't think of many countries that you can walk straight into, and get given a house and benefits.

Despite your efforts to shift the blame elsewhere, the only failure is you.

My CV is from A4E yes, and do it i got all addresses from, i researched for days on all sites i could find that was the disheartening bit for me.

A level standard English - I think not!
  • Perhaps someone on here would be willing to look over an application you make, to see if there's some glaring mistake you're making (no use me looking, i'm jobseeking myself :o ) It seems odd that you're not getting any replies at all. I've had replies to most of my applications, whether made online, or posted, even if 99% of them have been the "thank you but you've not been shortlisted this time" ones :D

I'd check your email address too, because when you apply via the do-it site you should receive an email similar to this for each volunteer opportunity you apply for....

    Dear yourname
Thank you for your interest in the position of xxx xxxx
You can view the opportunity by clicking on this link: "clicky"
Your volunteer profile has been sent to Volunteer Centre "your local one" (or the organisation you want to volunteer with) who should respond to your enquiry within 10 working days.
If you have not heard from them after 10 working days you can contact them on:
"your local volunteer centre (or the organisation's) phone and email"

Hope things improve for you, anyway

Being unemployed for a long time is a vicious circle though. Once you have been out of work for more than a short while employers assume that there is something wrong with you rather than that you either didn't bother looking seriously or were doing other things while you were between jobs or hadn't got your job search and cv technique right straight away. There are an awful lot of fake jobs out there, mostly advertised by agencies which is why there are many people getting despondent about applying and hearing nothing. There is a good chance there isn't even a job to hear back from! If you are over a certain age or have more than a certain amount of work experience hirers can again be put off as they don't like people with more experience being junior.

Agencies also prefer to put forward candidates already in work to try and get themselves a double commission so again those out of work are already at a major disadvantage.

It is partly a numbers game. If you keep applying at some point you will be better than other applicants or faster. It may even be something stupid that gets you an interview - you say you like a certain hobby and the hirer also does. Luck plays a part along with effort and tailoring your cv and cover letter for each application.

Some areas of the country are worse than others for jobs so if you are in a bad area you may be doing everything right and you just don't get anywhere as there is a bigger pool for employers to choose from and they will generally always choose someone in work over someone out of work.

I'm in the south east - not many jobs where I am. Do your research really well if you're moving.

If, as it sounds, you have a CV that you are happy with as you have had help with it, it may be that it's somewhat inflexible. As has been said, it is important to adapt your CV for the post you're applying for.

There have been many excellent suggestions and it sounds like you're doing all the right things now - charity work for experience and skills.

I have worked abroad, and had a great time, BUT it is only when you go abroad that you really appreciate the opportunities in this country and that's why I came back. Like it or not, life here is more flexible, there are so many opportunities re. study/training/experiences.

Also agree that emailing, in the first instance, is probably not a great idea. Telephone and ensure personal contact in order to be remembered AND to actually keep your own momentum going.

    Good luck!
