Dixons online - missed delivery

I can't believe it. I ordered a laptop last Saturday and paid for a timed delivery slot this morning - 8.00 - 10.30(£12). I paid for this as hubby couldn't wait at home all day and I needed the laptop as it was a pressie for daughters 18th on Sunday. 11.00 came - no laptop.I called Dixons and was told the courier was runing late but they woulld be with us very soon. 12.30 came - still no package. As hubby could not wait any longer, I called and asked to cancel as no-one would be home to accept delivery and given this mornings performance who knew when it would likely turn up.
What was also annoying was the couriers website was not working, so I could not check progess there.
I was told that they would ask the courier to return package, and the order would be cancelled and a refund given within 72 hours. No apology - nothing. Folowing the call I also e-mailed them to confirm the cancellation and requesting a refund. I also expressed my anger at their poor sevice. As yet,my order is not showing as cancelled on the Dixons website.
Has anyone experienced a similar experience with Dixons? If so, how long did it take to get a refund? I am dreading having to do battle to get my money back.
On a positive note, I pcked up another laptop from Staples on my way home - I could have gone to Dixons, but I don't think I will be putting any business their way for a while (unless its a REAL bargain)!!!
