Which router is best for thick walled house?

You may have thick walls but if you do not have concrete floors between each floor but have floorboards then place an ordinary router high up in the loft. Signal should distribute downwards thru the wooden floors nicely to all rooms.0

Depends what you mean by moving large files. I would agree with the advice if you are talking about moving large files from machine to machine within the premises. Those adapters are only 85Mbps ones. If you want to move large amounts of data, such as video files, then you should be looking at 200Mbps ones, which are the current standard.
But for basic networking, 85 Mbps will do the job.
Just bear in mind that they're not backward compatible, so if you expand the network later you are stuck with that speed.
But if you are just downloading from the internet, the bottleneck is your ADSL connection, 85Mb/s is fine - and a secondhand pair of 14Mb/s adapters would do the job just as well - besides probably being very good value for money.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi, re your post about routers and mixing and matching, sorry to say you don't get it yet. One very good supplier and all the same brand accessories is the best way to go after cat5 cables, you are just wasting your time/money and more frustration later.0
