Hi folks
well this problem started on Friday morning on my dell XPS m1330 laptop , when i switched on - nothing but colourful vertical lines all across my screen , eventually with a bit of switching on/off it eventually booted up.
it started first time last night , but today it plain refuses to boot up , instead just showing these barcode like lines again .

any ideas ? , tried to take the back off the laptop to see if anything was loose , but could not get it right off & didn't want to force it .

    Exactly like that !
thanks very much closed , after reading one of those links i'm now going to give Dell a call to request a repair , until i read that i was facing having to reluctantly buy a new laptop .
i had tried searching around google , but could not find a definitive answer, thanks again .
meant to add that i bought mine from Dell outlet (will that make a difference ?), in February 2008

now understand why people slag off Dell ,
just wasted 20 minutes to a call centre , only to be told that it would cost £380 to repair a known fault !
my warranty - kindly extended by Nvidia for 1 year(due to their **** motherboards) , expired in February 2010 .
even though this laptop was rarely used for 18 months - only started using it again over last 9 weeks .

forgot that i had bought this through a business account , so quoting the sale of goods act , fit for purpose etc , was like banging my head against a rather thick brick wall.

    £380 ********* , any suggestions
