Santander First Home Saver - not received statements etc

I opened a Santander First Home Saver in branch in June. Paid in £5000 via online transfer the day I opened the account and have paid in £300 via standing order near the start of July and August. This was using the details on the printout I was given in the branch when I opened the account.

Since I opened the account I haven't received anything through the post from Santander confirming that the account is open, or that they've received my money to date, and when I opened the account I was told there is no online access.

Can anyone else who has one of these accounts tell me if this is normal, or should I have received a letter or statement or something by now? How often do Santander send statements for this account?

Cheers

I opened my Santander First Home Saver account on 7 May. The printout I was given in the branch when I opened the account stated 'Statement Frequency: Day 5 of 03/06/09/12' - so quarterly. I suggest you check to see if statement frequency is mentioned on the printout they gave you..

The first statement I got dated 5 June confirmed that they had received my opening deposit via faster payment and the first standing order payment in June.

Oddly, the statement just states its a 'saving account' and doesn't mention 'First Home Saver'!

You should be able to check the balance of your account at a branch or I believe by telephone - but not online

    Regards

Thanks for pointing out that - mine says the same about the statements, so that would explain why I've not had one yet, and I guess I can expect one shortly after 5 September.

  • I opened a first home saver in Jan and an ISA in May. On both the openeing printouts it says statements on day 5 of month 03/06/09/12. I have had no statements for the first home saver at all but I did get one in June for the ISA. I have checked the balance in branch though so I know the money is going in.
  • I am planning on going with this First Home Saver. I am going to put in 5,000 for the lump sum and then in the first a further 5,000, losing the 5% interest on the first month but then following the rules with a deposit of 100-300 a month from there on. Do you think this is chancing it?
  • Hi,

I opened my first home saver account in May this year.

I deposited the £5000 in branch on opening the account. I set up a standing order to pay in £300 every month.

I received a statement in early in June but it didn't mention my standing payment of £300 so i called them and they said they had received it.

I was told statements were quarterly. So i am expecting one very soon. Has anyone received theirs for September?
