Tell him he can return it and tell him he owes you £200 as your hourly rates for hire are £300.

Police point of view one - your brother is very naive and should inform DVLA ASP.

Police point of view two - you brother is trying to be very clever and is covering up an offence or crime involving this vehicle by stating he has sold the vehicle.

Sorry to be on the fence but witnessed it so many times in a past career. Hopefully it is point one.

Really? The police may think the OP's brother may well be trying cover up offences he as actually comitted in the car by claimimg to have sold the car very recently, given he has no documentary proof of the sale.

Tell bloke to sod off. Don't worry about the V5 issue. In fact, to cover his backside, he only has to inform DVLA of a change of vehicle and that actually doesn't have to be via a V5. He can send a letter BY RECORDED DELIVERY with the registration number on.

To those banging on about the Police, A V5 IS NOT PROOF OF OWNERSHIP NOR PROOF OF WHO WAS DRIVING IT.

Exactly. The V5 records the registered keeper. Who need not necessarily be the legal owner.

Tell him to go away politely, the car is sold as seen, tried and tested and don't answer any more phone calls from him. Write to the DVLA apologising for the mistake and give them the time and date of transfer with as many details of the buyer as possible.

Tell him to fick orf, "impolitely"

No grounds to reject, OR, take 10% of him for the inconvieience, and sell elsewhere, totally justified :T:T:T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
