    I reckon around 90% of ordinary XP users work with administration rights.

    The thing about rootkits is you usually don't know you've been infected and most AV doesn't detect it.

    As regarding XP, the security battle was lost about half a decade ago. Windows Vista went some way to resolving it.

    Sony used to give them away free on their music CDs. Initially they were so modest about such generosity that they didn't even tell the public that their PCs would be illegally hacked.
