found 3 share certificates

I've just been having a bit of a clear out and found 3 share certificates for Debenhams . Now I've googled the share price because I thought that they were bought out by a private equity company and I see thay are listed on the LSE. I cant remember if they were sold and if I got a cheque as I did with my Arcadia shares when Philip Green took the business back into private ownership, but if that happened with Debenhams why didn't I chuck out the old certificates.
Does anyone know what I need to do with these certificates to find if they hold any value?

Contact their share registrars and ask them what happened at the time of the takeover - they can tell if you have any money owed to you and/or if they sent you a cheque at the time (and perhaps if was cashed) .

    I think their details are:
    Equiniti Ltd.
    Aspect House
    Spencer Road
    Lancing
    West Sussex

Debenhams shares are trading now at around 58P. per share. If you had sold them you would have had to surrender the share certificates (unless of course you had said that you had lost them). They last paid a dividend of 1/2P per share in January 2009 and they paid two larger dividends the previous year. Do you remember receiving these dividends? As a shareholder you would have been entitled to them.

My share certificates have an address on them from the 1990's. I've tried https://www.shareview.co.uk as they already managed a portfolio for me but i've not been able to add these shares on to it. I've also tried http://www-uk.computershare.com who's web address is on one of the certificates but no joy there. I am sure Debenhams were bought out by a private equity company some years ago and I would have been paid off but for some reason I still have the certificates and I can't clearly remember, I just want to make sure I am not throwing away any money if I bin them.

As Sunil suggested yesterday, you should speak to Debenhams Registrars who are Equiniti. They will be able to help you.

If the 0871 number puts you off, you could try 0121 415 7047 which may work as it has been the alternative for Debenhams overseas investors.

or +44 121 415 7047 (from outside the United Kingdom)
