Annual Credit Report took money -and delivered nothing in return

Last summer I signed up to Annual Credit Report and paid for premium membership at £4.97 a year so I could see my full credit score. It seemed a good choice as I had previously had a free trial from Experian which is something you can't repeat (if you try you will just get charged).

In July this year, I was charged £4.97 by Annual Credit Report which would be fine if they had delivered the services they are meant to. According to their site (which I can't link to as it says new users aren't allowed to post links) I should have received a new credit report and an email reminder to tell me it's ready. I have no such reminder (I haven't changed my email address and I check my junk folder regularly) and the report on their site is more than a year old. So they've taken the money off my card and given me nothing in return.

I've written to the site to complain and said I want the service I have paid for as they are in breach of contract, and then I want to cancel my account as I'm not continuing it after this. I just wondered if the same thing had happened to anyone else.

I feel it's only fair to say that after I emailed someone high up in the company he got back to me to say this has never happened before, something has gone wrong in their system and they are investigating but normally some kind of manual procedure would have kicked in with a failed report, and in the meantime they have refunded me.

After grumblng it seemed only fair to add this.

I only get email alerts when there has been a change/search on my credit check.

I did get an email a few weeks back reminding me my annual subs was up for renewal.

I should have had emails from them - it's been more than a year and I was due reminders and a new report. They agree there's been a failure and I should have received these so that's not under dispute.
