Hi

I'm going to London Mid september arriving Saturday morning and leaving Sunday.

I am staying in Canary Wharf and so need to get there from Kings Cross and back into London to Buckingham Palace and around and about to do general site seeing etc.

I think last time I had a zone ticket that let me travel all over.

Does anyone know the exact ticket I'll need for the underground and how much it would cost for sat and sunday?

buy a daily travelcard for each of the days. Full travel on tubes buses and some trains within the zones..

think they are about 7 quid.

I was very nervous about the underground and arrangements, but everything was fine, (I travelled from Canary Wharf to Paddington and a few other places throughout the day on my day ticket)

The staff advised a day ticket and they were great at their knowledge of the system.
There is also so much information given on the train itself it was just so easy.

Quick and Easy and about £7.00

£5.60 for a daily travelcard from Canary Wharf as long as you stay in zones 1-2

If you're likely to visit London and use the tube more than once it cuts fares by approximately half and automatically caluclates the best deal for each day travelled.

I think the minimum top start level is £13. I think you'll still have over £7 credit on it for when you return home - better than paying two lots of £5.60. (EDIT: Reading the post below provides another way to use Oyster which means you get your money back pretty quickly!).

If you 'buy' (you have to pay a £3 deposit plus put a 'top-up' on) an Oyster card with cash at a tube station, then when you have finished with it, hand it back in at a tube station and they will give you the cash left (which includes any unused deposit) back.

So there is no need to take it home and hope that you haven't lost it by the next time you visit.

If you want to buy a One Day Travelcard, you will need to buy it at London Kings Cross (i.e. the rail station) rather than Kings Cross St Pancras (The Tube station). You cannot buy One Day Travelcards at Tube stations any longer - you will need to go the Oyster route as above.

Once in Canary Wharf, on the Sunday you will be able to buy a DLR issued One Day Travelcard from a DLR station (Heron Quay or Canary Wharf DLR being close together), but again not from Canary Wharf Tube station.
