my daughters friend is 19 he was homeless but has recently been awarded his own flat when he was made homeless he was doing an aprentaship which he had to give up
he has been looking hard for a job of any sort but is slightly iliterate and he struggles he has had the help off the job center ect
now he wants to go back to collage to finish an NVQ that he started but is worried he will not be able to support him self if he cant find part time work (even mc donalds knocked him back)
he is surviving at the minute on his JSA ad with the help of this site on how to budget but he knows there will be other stuff he needs such as a bus pass ect...
is there any other help he can get i have searched but its all so confusing even if its some work he can do just to make enough for the extras he will need
EMA is not applicable because he is 20 i a month plus he is not living at home
thanks in advance

If he is studying full time he cannot claim JSA but he can claim 30.00 per week Adult Learning Grant on top of any part time earnings.
If he is studying part time he cannot claim ALG but he can claim JSA as long as he is willing to give up his course if he gets a job.
As he has literacy problems, please encourage him to get help with this at college as well as doing his NVQ.0 -
Most colleges also have a learning supportfund that he may be able to get some help from for his bus pass etc.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0
