Paid previous tenant for furniture but I think he has taken it with him

OP it's the Bank holiday weekend there could be a good explanation for why he hasn't answered his phone.
Also when you make contracts with people after the first text, call them.
Wait until Tuesday find out what has happened and then if there is a problem deal with it.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
The chq has been cashed, and was done so about ten days ago. I text my key question three to four days after I went to drop my chq off, I didn't chase him as I didn't want to be rude and knew he was in the throws of moving so my key question wasn't the most important thing happening!
I don't have any problem dealing with it, my original question is how!
I guess I take occupancy and then call the police - will they even be interested?0 -

Unlikely - unanswered texts are a common non arrestable offence.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Thanks for Gizmo but I am neither a nutter or that stupid, I obviously mean that should I take occupancy and the furniture that I paid for in good faith is missing, should I then call the police! Even though I have never reported an offence or indeed committed a crime I do realise what constitutes a crime and yes I agree unanswered text messages do not do that!
But thanks anyway!0 -
Can't you see through the windows? I would say if the furniture is not there on Tuesday first phone him, if not successful speak to agent and ask if the furniture was there at the check out if, you can't get hold of this person and the furniture has gone I would say phone or call round to the police station and say you want to report a theft, good luckLoretta0

Thanks Loretta for your advice - the furniture was supposed to have been left upstairs so can't see in! But my very first call on Tuesday will be to the agent to enquire and if it is missing I guess I call the police!0

Actually, that offence was repealed about 4 years ago (and it was the 1968 Theft Act anyway).
You need the Fraud Act 2006.0 -
If the furniture is not there and you have to report it to the police they will work out what the offence isLoretta0
