Good afternoon all
I have just opened a barclays cash card account in my local brsnch yesterday. I have opted to have the visa debit card with this account. Will it be the visa debit connect card beginning with 4658? Your feedback will be muchly appriciated!!!

Yes it will be the 4658!!! 4659 are the ''offline'' card with the 4658 it has to be authorised. Interestingly, my OH actually has a full bank account with Barclay's ie comes with cheque book. But he didn't score high enough to get an offline card, and still got the 4658 debit card!
To be fair he has never had any problems using it.0 -
Because its fully authorised you supposedly cannot use it at a Pay@Pump petrol (although some others on here say you can as long as cleared funds, so not sure will have to try that one day I still use cash for everything).
Yep never had any problems with my 4658 either, seems accepted everywhere, nice looking card too :cool:0 -

My LTSB Visa Debit came a few days ago and its 4659... does this mean its offline (ie I can use to pay at pumps)?0 -

Because it's a different bank, your card amy still be a full authorisation card. Could do with asking izools as he has a full current account with LTSB. It may just be same 4 numbers but different.
for instance my credit card a Silver Sygma has the first 4 digits as an M&S credit card:eek: Just looking at 'BIN' numbers on wiki are your next 2 digits 10?
Also, HSBC cards start 4659 but the next 2 numbers can tell you if it's a cheque guarantee card or a full authorisation card.
Very confusing.0 -
If it's a Silver coloured card starting 4659 it's full authorisation, it's a Green card that comes with the full current account.
Think it starts 4921? Can any LTSB confirm just out of curiosity?
Have been reading older posts on the matter.0 -
It starts 4659 and is proceeded by 10 so I think what you said about it being full auth is correct. However, what do you mean by full auth - is it that it requires me to have funds and it doesn't work offline?
Also as I am interested in opening a Barclays account is their card the same?0 -

Barclay's basic account is also the same ''Full auth'' but most banks issue cards with no cheque guarantee these days, not going to be much difference:j0 -
I have got the Lloyds TSB basic account with the silver card starting 4659 and even though its Full auth i could still use it at the pay at pumps and on trains.
So works just like a normal Visa Debit i guess.0 -

:j This is good to know because theres a general consensus on these forums that Fully Auth cards cannot be used on Pay@Pump etc...0
