I would like to change my car and will also have a baby coming along so I am looking out for a car suitable for a baby (first one), that's economical, and around the £4k mark. Any suggestions?

I don't like to make any specific suggestions but consider this before buying: Are you going to have any more children? If yes make sure you get a reasonable size car. You don't really need an MPV unless you have more than 2 children.
Make sure the car has a big enough boot for prams, pushchairs and shopping etc.
Don't get a 2 door car as it's a right royal pain in the ar** getting the child in and out.0 -
Diesel Ford Focus or Mondeo. 50+MPG, plenty of room for prams etc.0

Transit Mini Bus...breed away to your hearts content...:)0

They cost way more than 4K.......;)
Sorry could not resist.....How about a Volvo ?0 -
It depends on your lifestyle - if you just need it for popping round the shops an Aygo will do the job more than adequately (ours does). If you want to go away for the weekend anything Focus sized, but ensure there is enough back seat legroom space as once baby goes into a forward facing car seat their legs need quite a bit of space - we swapped our A3 because back seat legroom wasn't adequate for a 3 year old.
Agreed about 4 doors.0 -
i'll be driving about 25 miles a day I should imagine so it needs to be comfortable. I was put off diesel focus' from reviews I've read. Anyone got any experience with them?
one baby at first - perhaps a second in a couple of years time but not straight away so I'll hold off on the mini bus for now
I like the look of citroen c4s and renault megane's but I know french cars haven't got the best reputation for reliability so that worries me a bit.0 -
I recently bought an 05 Honda Jazz, fab reviews great on space, reliability and safety, may be worth a look0
