Send text messages for 0.2p UK - 1p International

Hey not sure if this is the right place to post this so if it isn't perhaps the Moderator's could put it somewhere more appropriate.

There is an Application which sends texts from your number for 0.2p a time (UK) and 1p (International)

If you're on an iPhone there is an App in the store which is called FishText you download it and away you go..Incidently if someone else you know has Fish Text too the messages are free

For people on other phones go to http://wap.fishtext.com

I downloaded it last night when o2 messed up my free texts, so thought I'd share it in case it helps someone.

It's also worth pointing out some of the International numbers are cheaper than a penny, Spain I think was 0.4p.

You can top up via Paypal too.

I worked out if you top up £5, and text UK numbers you'll get 10,000 texts for £5!!

Someone at work pointed me to a similar iPhone app - WhatsApp. It does cost 59p but once you've paid that you can message other users of the same app photos, text, etc, for free. Obviously if you're in an iPhone type tariff the data allowance is paid for which this use comes out of. It's also available for other platforms. http://www.whatsapp.com/

Obviously unlike the method outlined in this thread the messages it sends can only be sent between users of the app, it doesn't convert or translate them into standard MMS/SMS.

A test to Spain is 4p.
UK is 2p - You certainly won't get 10,000 texts for £5 - more like 250

I do use fishtext for int. texts and its great.

Can you get cheap messages if sending FROM overseas or is it just from UK?

You can only use this to sent to ppl with iPhone? if im not wrong...

I'm going abroad shortly and was looking at this app for my iPhone so I could text home whilst I was away (Tesco charges 10p per text when you're on pay monthly). Fishtext does say that it uses a data connection when using the app which would probably work out more expensive for me being charged for data usage.

Sorry all that has gone way over my head. I'm going to Florida soon and was not going to take the mobile cause I heard it was so expensive to use ,could I use this in my littlt ol' Nokia so I could text when I neede picking up from the Parks ? Thanks

Thanks to OP for this great find, have dl'd the app to my iPhone but struggling with trying to bring my contacts across, can anyone help? Am using this from my iPhone, not a PC.
