and the thing is about kids - you never stop paying for them ! Mine is 10 - I couldn't possibly count the cost of raising children. Your pay may only drop for a year but you'll have far less disposable income even when you go back to work
your pay will drop to nearer £800 a month between two of you. It's easy for him to say 'I'll just get a job' - he hasn't done so yet!
I do hope it works out for you - you sound like a pretty savvy chick so I'm sure it will !0 -

He's taking you for a ride!! I know this sounds harsh, but I've been there myself so, it's absolutely jumping off the page at me!!! (I subbed a semi-employed spendthrift OH for nearly a decade... until I saw sense and kicked him out)
From your earnings of £2287 you have £137 spare for other things = ? 5%
From his earnings of £433 he has £133 to spend = ? 30%
How is this fair?
You're obviously feeling a bit stretched financially, and trying to plan ahead, but he's clearly feeling very comfortable if he doesn't feel like taking on any more work, and he's living purely in the present. This behaviour will just go on and on if you don't make him tighten his belt and share some of the financial pain. He's not entitled to feel comfortable when he's contributing so little to your joint expenses!
How about you take all £433 and give him a "pocket money" allowance for essentials? Say £10 a week? And if it's not esential, he doesn't get it. That might give him a bit of incentive to get out and earn some more?
Tough love! It's time he started appreciating what he's got!
Maybe my ex and I would be together today if I'd stopped him exploiting me sooner! (now there's a thought... )
Good luck, and I hope you work things out.
