Who has the chespest phone line package for international calls??

Hiya
After a year of massive bills from sky, and a poor service, i have decided to cancel my sky+ package with them. To save myself money im going to use freeview, and my partner has 02 broadband thorugh Quidco which costs him £4.99 a month.
I am trying to find phone package which gives me free international calls (as my mum and dad live in france) and free uk calls all the time.
I called Vontage, as they are meant to have the cheapest package at £18 (using an online search), but when i called they said it would cost £9.99 for a box to go into my modem, £9.99 for setup, another £9.99 for something and £8.99 for a month in advance!
Basically im asking if any1 knows of a company, or have just joined a company with free anytime and international calls, for as cheap as possible. Every1 i have called have hidden charges!
Any help or advice would be fab

Sky Talk Unlimited @ £5/month is one of the cheapest.

OTOH, calls to France only cost 1p/minute and UK calls only cost 5p each (regardless of duration) via 18185 if you have a BT landline.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
