Hope someone can explain this to me .
I have a 5 day old Toshiba Laptop C650-154 . When I turned it on today I had a message alert
" Toshiba TEMPRO issued an alert that your stored data on one of your hard drive partions has now reached 75% or more of its capacity. Total disk space 57.70Mb Free disk space 6.62Mb"
I have looked on MY Computer and here it states
Hard Disk Drive -Windows C 121 GB of 148GB
Data 141 GB free of 148GB
Using Windows7 operating system.
I thought I had very little stored so can ayone please tell me what the TEMPRO message means.
Thanks

I would take it back to the place that you purchased it! Sounds like a faulty HDD!0

hi there,
i've used tempro before and i have found it to be a bit picky sometimes, so much so i dont use it lol.
It could be a USB drive its refering to although I doubt it.
I presume you're using Vista? or XP?
Which ever one you use, you can right click My Computer or Computer and click manage. This will bring up Management Console. Somewhere down the left hand side, there will be Disk Management. This should give you details of any data storage on your computer, including USB drives and CD/DVD Drives. Hopefully that might shed some light as to what tempro is referring to.
that said, if it could be a faulty drive, you can use a simple free util which will test the SMART triggers of the drive. Usually a good way of finding out if a drive is deffective or about to go defective. You can get this util at http://hddscan.com/

Could be a Windows recovery partition on the disk?0 -
Uninstall TEMPRO0

it wont be a recovery partition, specially as its windows 7 and that comes on a DVD. I very much doubt there is anything that can compress a windows 7 installation down to 57mb. but agree totally with donnie. if everything else seems fine, uninstall temproOn the Keyboard of Life - Always Keep a finger poised over the Esc Key! :rotfl:0

Don't forget to create your Rescue discs. There is probably quite a lot of annoying bundled software on the Toshiba. I generally get rid of all of the Google stuff and any other unwanted and unnecessary software. TEMPRO being one of them.
Also, if you didn't buy it from the PC World group, register the machine online and go to Toshiba Support page. You'll find some reasonably price extended warranties there. For instance, 3 years including Data Recovery for £50.
