There is alot, but stuff to keep you busy during your time off.

The things that spring to my mind first are -

Immodium - just in case

Plenty of ideas & tips, but it all depends where you are going.

Stuff like a PSP, hard drive full of films and a laptop was all I needed in Basrah, but depends where you are going.

toilitries, snacks, lip salve, those powder things that mix up with water to make drinks,immodium and rennies,pack of cards, haribo.

yep, body armour, Helmet, that's just for starters,
Mate whilst there will be a depth of knowledge on here, the best answers will come from your NCO's and SNCO's.

a lot of them have been there done it and seen it all before...

You should be issued a kitting list to take with you, and it will be different to where you are going each time.

Once you've packed all this away, look at what space you have left & decide from there.
