    What does the OR say?

I wouldn't worry too much about it - we went bankrupt last December and were discharged in July this year. We received similar letters before we were discharged and to be honest I just ignored them, as all our debts had been included in the bankruptcy. I've not had anything through since. I'd possibly contact the OR just to make sure, but I'm sure all will be fine!

    yes they were

Then simply ignore MAX recovery - at best refer them to OR.

  • Yes, Max recovery I believe buy debts from creditors on wholesale. Its like someone offering you 1000 secondhand motorcars as a joblot. You then take these 1000 motorcars and try to sell them on to the public. Obviously a percentage will be scraped and the rest hopefully will make you back a number times what you paid. People make a lot of money out of people with debt, its a money making business! The creditors have not got the time or administration to process all the individual debts so they are sold as a joblot. By law you have to be notified, hence the letter. You are requested not to contact them directly as the letter will state. If you have little or no assets then its a debt not worth pursuing. Time is money in this game. Its no point going after small debt when it cost more time, manpower etc when there are bigger catches you can make with your time. Its a business. The creditors save time chasing bad debts and recouperate some money back on selling them on. The buyer will want to get as much as possible for their efforts.
  • just googled this max recovery and found your conversation. i was bankrupt last year from 06.06.06 to 20.12.06. i had couple of loans in it, but this particular one was with sainsbury's bank. they used logic group to collect the payments from me and when i wrote the creditors names up to the bankruptcy form i obviously wrote logic as the creditor.....i have been trying to get a debit card for last six months i therefore been trying to get letters from creditors to clear my defaulted accounts in experian....i rang sainsburys bank and they said that i need to contact blair, scott & oliver who was now all of a sudden the creditor...heh this is getting better now! i rang this scott etc. company more than month ago and asked them to send me "the letter of closure" so that i could send it to experian... and the lady on the phone said that they will send me the letter straight away when they'll get the confirming letter from my insolvency practitioner that the bankruptcy IS really closed...i obviously rang the practitioner who said that he is going to send this letter to them... AND listen to this: tonight i rang scott etc. and asked where abouts is this letter of closure and they said that they don't have anything else marked in their records than that my loan has been sold to MAX RECOVERY on the 28th OF JUNE THIS YEAR!!!! how is this possible???? the loan which was cleared off in the bankruptcy doesn't seem to be cleared after all but it's travelling from a creditor to an other?!!!
