We stayed here about 18 months ago, great hotel, food out of this world, couldn't recommend it highly enough

I stayed here in May 2005. Asked in advance for a room with a view and got one of the corridor-end rooms with a large wrap-around balcony looking out over Benidorm- marvellous. Unlike fudgem, I wasn't impressed with the restaurant - too bright and noisy to be relaxing - and certainly didn't think the food was "out of this world". The spa is run by an outside company. I did take some of the treatments and was impressed by the professionalism.

    Hope this helps.
  • Have also stayed here.In the top bracket for Benidorm hotels.Found food very good.

We love the Melia and will be going in February. In fact we like Sol Melia all together. It's so easy to book with them. I recommended this hotel to a friend of mine who is wheelchair bound and does Benidorm every year. He went to have a look and they were great with him, even took him up in the glass lift. He was very impressed but said it is too far from the front for him.
I like the food too and the amount of space in the dining room. The grounds are wonderful and you can find a quiet spot for a quiet read or use the impressive indoor pool. Have to say that the area it is in is not the nicest but we use the hotel a lot or just stroll down to the Levante beach and get the bus back (I don't do even little hills) almost to the door. Went with my grandsons a couple of years ago and they thought it was rather "posh". You can pay for any satellitel TV you might want to watch or just have basic channels. The rooms are great too, extremely clean and well equipped.

Forgot to mention, we are going to another Sol Melia hotel next week and this one even has internet access FOC in the room. Looking forward toit especially as it is on the beach (Torremolinos).

In March 2005 we had an eight night stay BB & EM at the above hotel. The hotel was fine, good heated indoor swimming pool etc. Yes it was just a bit outside the main area, but a bus stopped outside the hotel and the charge was 90 cents one way.

The food was another question, not that I would have expected from a 4* hotel. If you liked salads and cold sweets every day then you would be fine. Hot meals were poor. Meat in some cases was so tough you could not cut it never mind eat it. Potatoes and veg were kept warm for long periods and were quite often baked under the heating lights.

A microwave was available to heat up luke warm foods. The hotel was not expensive through Alpha Rooms and cost as much as some of the self catering units. Two couples we met ate out on more than one occasion; other couples were satisfied with what they got. One of the couples who ate out had been there 18 months ago and said that the food was OK then.

There were not enough waiters and if it had not been for Patrick the service would have failed. He was 5*.

It is such a pity the company put so much into the provision of the hotel and has such high standards and then fails with the provision of food.
