filling the DLA forms online or the paper version

Just looking at the DWP website where you can make youre application for DLA online. I'm doing my renewal for DS - does it make any difference to the decision/time it takes etc I know it shouldn't make any difference as presumably it's all the same quesitons, just that I type a lot faster than I write and thought it might make the job a bit easier but didn't want to risk it if there's usually any problems with the form submitting.

Guess I just wanted peoples experiences good or bad please

I did the online version but downloaded it so could fill in on computer as on line there was no option of attaching any extra documents but also attached the front page of the paper version as it had their dates on etc.

I've never had any problems with the online version. In fact, it was much easier - typing is easier for me than writing. Plus, I would write something (or type) and then realise it made no sense; so had to scribble it out and write it again. Whereas I just deleted what I wrote online and wrote it again.

I did my application on line as i can't write much, too painful, it took a good week to do it on line, but made it a bit easier.

I also printed off a copy, just in case it went missing in the electronic mists of time. (It didn't)

    There are two online forms:
There's one where you fill it in and submit it online and the other is where you print it out and send it off to DLA unit.

Is there a link available to this? I've looked and can only see the online form.

They usually say 5 - 10 working days. More often than not its with you within 5-7 normal days.

The advantage of getting a claim form through the post is that its dated. When you phone, the date you ask for the claim is stamped on the form together with a date 6 or so weeks ahead. If you get your form in by the second date and you are successful, the claim is paid from the first date on the form (the date you requested it).

  • Is there a website with good comprehensive guidelines to follow to help fill the DLA form in?

I need the mental health section.

    Thanks.

You might be better off googling Mind and see what guides they have. Many guides online are aimed at people with specific conditions.
