Does the car "turn over" when you try to start it?.......if so it cant be the cam belt, can it?............the 3 month warranty should cover the "Fuel Pump" and the Driver Seat, but not the Tyre. What has post 5 got to do with it?0

You need to have a look at the warranty paperwork they gave you.
This will tell you what is & what isnt covered.0 -
You need to remember that a warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and cannot replace them. So even if something isn't covered in the warranty, or is after the warranty expires, the dealer may be responsible due to your statutory rights.
Part of your statutory rights are the Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002, which is where the 6 month rule is derived from, and contrary to what has been mentioned by others does apply to second hand goods sold by businesses (other than at an auction).
Obviously you cannot expect a second hand item to be perfect and free from trivial flaws that you would expect from a brand new item, but you can expect that it would be free of significant faults that would impact on its use. Also if you paid a pittance for something that would also have an impact on expectation, but that is not the case here.
A lot more information here - http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights
If it was me, I would take it to another garage that I trusted to properly diagnose (but not fix) the fault. Then based on that information decide what to do next.
If it is the fuel pump that has failed, I would write to the dealer that sold you the car, and give them a final opportunity for them to fix the car before taking them to court.
Finally, do you have legal expenses cover (often included with house insurance, or with motoring organisation membership, etc), as these usually will provide advice and assistance in consumer disputes over a certain value.0 -

A snapped cam belt doesnt mean your engine will not turn over, especially on an engine such as this one, the valves will not even be bent, only the rocker arms will be snapped, which basically means the valves are no longer in connection with the camshafts.

Agree with the poster above about shifting this car on as soon as poss, the number of irritating expensive faults these 807/C8/Useless can have is staggering, and as rightly said injector fault may well mean engine removal and full strip down to remove at eye watering costs.
Do lots of googling and read up on owners and motoring websites before buying any car especially Diesels.0 -
Thank Altarf, knew I'd had read the 6mth rule somewhere.0

Update: having had no response from the owner of the dealership over the weekend, I left a message on their answer phone on Tues - still no contact from them. I then phoned the RAC legal team who advised that because we had paid £100 on a credit card we could recover the costs of any repairs (up to the full amount paid for vehicle) via the CC company. So car is currently at my local garage being looked at.
Still waiting for tax and mot from dealer as he changed the cherished plates for me via the local DVLA office. Hope I don't get any resistance from them getting them back as I now need to tax the vehicle as it has now run out!
Thanks to everyone for the advice - it was v gratefully received.0 -
is it the pump in the tank?
dont forget the fuelling components are not made by citroen but by some one like bosch, common across many makes0 -
Further update: Have heard from my local garage who has been unable to get a reading on his plug-in machine! Says the fuel pump in the engine is not working BUT he thinks that it's either an electrical fault OR it could be the ECU that's gone down!! This he can't fix so he's contacting an electronic garage specialist to see if they can diagnose it.
I've now been without a car for a week - back at work tomorrow and by the looks of things it could be at least a few days before we find out what's wrong with it and/or fix it.
Managed to get the tax disc and MOT cert from dealer and hubby told them what the current situation was. Not surprisingly the boss was not there AGAIN so we are still pursuing the costs through our C C company. If it's the ECU that's broken, we'll be returning the car ASAP and pursuing a full refund. But that still leaves me car-less with a job and three children to run here there and everywhere!0 -
