Debenhams Store card taken out in 2004

Hi Guys

I took out my debenhams store card in Nov '04 to which I signed the application form in store which said that I wanted the PPI - however, the young guy who was signing me up for this card, didn't ask me if I wanted PPI or even give me details about the PPI.

Debenhams was with GE Money, which have been taken over by Santander. I contacted Santander saying that I was mis-sold the PPI - to which they sent me a letter basically saying tough - you signed the form to agree to the PPI!

I have been given the address for the Finance & Leasing Association - however in initial letter they sent to say that they would investigate this, they gave me a document of the procedure, which said that I would need to contact the FOS.

I have read the guide on claiming, and GE money were fined by the FOS- so who should I write too?? Has anyone had any sucess in claiming the PPI from a Debenhams card??

    Hi there

Maybe you should contact the FOS on this first before you go any further, because you received a letter for the financial leasing who then say you need to contact the FOS.

    OR

What you could do is still write to GE Money, my son had a reclaim with these, and even though they have been taken over by Santander, these are the ones who does the investigation.
But my son still wrote to GE Money and the letter received from Santander - he was successful, he was sold the ppi in with a burtons store card when he was just 17 years old at the time.

You could check with the FOS first though and take it from there, they should lead you in the right direction with this, good luck.;)

  • I have spoken to the FOS who said that I would need to contact the FLA as at the time I took out the card GE Money were not regulated. The adviser at the FOS said that they wouldn't be able to help, and that the FLA would probabily do nothing about my complaint as they were not regulated at that point. I will contact the FLA and let you know the outcome

    Hiya

The FLA I must agree have not helped many people to what I know of, good luck with yours though, but otherwise you could try the insurer/underwriter instead, normally the FOS suggest this avenue once all other avenues have been ruled out, so if the FLA are unable to help then contact the FOS again and let them know, if they don't say anything about the underwriter/insurer mention to them that you have heard that some have gone this direction.

    Good luck.;)
