Bidding for a car without seeing it first...

It's worth going to look if they're local, and making an offer if you like it.
I bought a couple I saw first on ebay that way as well.0 -
Fair comment, however many time wasters refuse even if the item is accurately described.
You are right of course, there seems to be a group of folks that get a buzz out of screwing peoples auctions.
Funny thing tho' it only happens in listings that apeal to the masses.
If like me you buy/sell archery/antiques/diy/plumbing/tools etc etc,ie specialist stuff, the problems stop. Flog cd's, cars, clothes and everyday items and the dorks appear out of the woodwork :eek:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I have bought cars 'unseen' before. It all boils down to what you want, and how much you want to pay.
If you are buying a 'spares or repair' motor, then its pretty much you want it for a project or for parts.˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ

I can't believe that people don't want to see a car before buying. I got stitched up buying a silvercross pram on ebay, looked mint on the photo's, described as very good condition, the trouble was they only photographed the good side, the other side had a dent in the side and the hood doesn't clip tight. £240 down the drain but never mind, I'll chalk it down to experience.
I think it boils down to trust, relying on honest descriptions, but I've seen so many cars advertised as excellent condition that have been a load of rubbish.

why didnt you send it back to the seller then? £240 is a lot of money to throw away.one of the famous 50 -
Last three cars have been bought at auction sight unseen (two from EBay). Two were delivered over 300 miles and I still hadn't seen them.
To b e fair one did require a new gear box which wasn't expected but even if I had viewed it I wouldn't have known.0 -

Because it was nr Blackpool and we're in West Yorks., so I sent my hubby to pick it up and it was already dismantled so he put it in the car, paid and brought it home. In fairness to him he wouldn't have known what to look for (typical male, they all look the same to him).
So, cash payment on collection, I don't really have a leg to stand on, and as I don't like giving bad feedback, I didn't give her any.
Oh, and I've took a deposit on the Mini and removed it, 88 watchers and one viewer.

I used to do this, offer cash on pick up but to be honest I thing it's better to utilise the bit of security that paying be paypal offers in case or trouble, paying in cash only benefits the seller :money:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
