Ending finance early or not

Hi

Need to get a car that doesnt cost me the earth to run/insure etc. My car (which does cost the earth to run/insure etc !!!) still has outstanding finance.

As I have paid over half the finance, is it worth ending the finance and giving the car to the finance co., or would any car dealer take my car and pay off the finance if I took finance out on one of their cars?

No sure how it works. Want to go to a local dealer to see what they say, but don't want to be laughed at if they won't consider my car with its outstanding finance.

Many thanks

JB
