Hi Everyone,

I need some advise, I am just about to buy a Emachine E625 as Morrisons have them on special! They are £200 but I have 10% off making it £180. It has a 1GB Memory, All I need it for is for surfing the net & for storing some photos for Ebay etc. Would this spec be ok? I really don't know much about computers i'm afraid but I have a Emachine E525 with 2GB Memory that I was going to pass onto my son. I know that in this day & age 1GB is a small memory but would it be ok for what I need it for?
Thanks in advance
Debs x

Bargain? Erm.... hard to say. If you were happy with the E525, then you should be with the new one. Shouldn't be a problem to add more RAM if needed. Would take the price up to £200.

Thanks for your swift reply! I am NOT at all techie so I don't need an all singing all dancing Laptop! Can I just ask you a question? Do photos take up loads of memory? My sons Laptop is a 1BG Acer & he says the memory is full! Would keeping photos & music fill it up quite quickly?

disk space and memory (ram) are two different things.

Photo's take up hardly any space compared to video and music

PS hope you are backing up those photos?

    Thanks Closed,
So if he takes off some of his music it should clear the memory a little?

Maybe you are mixing RAM and the capacity of your Hard disc drive. If it's 160 GB, you won't be filling that up with photos any time soon.

The 1GB of RAM will dictate how quickly that you can view them. :)

First check it is full (and if so what is it full of), and check you don't have an empty partition (eg a d: drive) as well. There may be no need to delete anything.

Right click on the drive letter in explorer, then properties.

Video is the biggest space hog per minute

    Donnie,
So The E625 (1GB Mem & 160gb HD) would be more than big enough for me to keep 2000 photos on? Is that right? Sorry to sound thick but I am :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:

Even if they were HUGE high quality pictures, they still wouldn't cover one tenth of the drive space.

back them up to dvd and external hard disk if you have one (don't delete them from the pc, the more copies the merrier), in case your hard disk fails.
