Hello people.
I'm in a really really lucky position. My Dad has been kind enough to set an incentive for me as I've lost weight - its a pretty big incentive - £1000 if I get to within the healthy BMI chart weight!
Well, this week i've finally done it, I've lost over 5 stone with weight watchers, dropped 4 dress sizes and 4 bra sizes! I'm thrilled. I'm only just into the healthy weight range so Dad and I have agreed that I'm going to aim to lose another 7 pounds to give me a bit of flexibility.
So, I'm so close to getting that £1000 and I want to spend it on clothes! My question is, what should I be going for? I work on a farm so I don't really need more than one smart suit.
What would you do with £1000 to spend on yourself?
(BTW, I have no kids hence why I can be that selfish!)

I'd start with a visit to Bravissimo to get a good bra or three, then I'd head to M& S for some more underwear.
Then I'd stay in M&S for my capsule wardrobe - trousers and skirts in the same tone, then add cardis, blouses, ~t shirts etc. to match.
If you've one close by I think Debenhams do personal shoppers that will check out the kinds of clothes you want to wear and find the stuff for you, with no obligation to buy.
With £1000 I'd go off and have a well earned holiday, then put the rest of the money towards gym membership for a year..
what happens if you put any weight on - is your Dad going to take the money away?:rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Thanks!
Hopefully he won't want it back! To be honest, I've been overweight for all of my 20's (I'm 30 next feb) and my 20's weren't great, partly due to that. In this last year, I've changed my job, sorted my money, lost weight, given up cigarettes and met the man I hope to marry. I feel so healthy and fantastic I don't ever want to go back to the old person I was!
Anyway, I work for him so any time I put anything unhealthy in my mouth I'm sure there'd be a comment!!0 -
Oh well done you - you sound radiant!! What a lovely Dad you have too.:)
I'd go with the really good bras first of all too. They really do make such a difference and youi will look even more streamlined.
If it was me, I'd then buy a lovely mac for the autumn, a pair of boots (ankle or knee) and I'd go somewhere special and have my hair done. Maybe lowlights/highlights/excellent cut.
Maybe a massage, facial and a few bits of really trendy fashion jewelllery.0 -
Good ideas about spending a bit of it on beauty/hair stuff. It'd be nice to have a few treats.
Maybe after harvest a manicure would be good! I'm fed up of having greasy workmen's hands!0 -
Well done zcrat41! That's fantastic

I would get some new bits like Penny said, get a new mac for autumn, they come in soo handy! Bras are always needed as are
Also, I would say maybe leave a few hundred aside for a holiday with your new man. Some winter sun is sure to keep you motivated.
One again well done!

TBH I wouldn't spend it all.
I would probably buy some stuff that I couldn't fit into before e.g. knee high boots that you can now fasten and perhaps a pair of skinny jeans and a dress/going out outfit that made me feel amazing and I would use these as my weight barometers, so if they don't fit its time to stop eating so much again.
The rest I would put away for my dream wedding dress. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Really? Honestly? If my Dad ever tried anything like that on me, I'd tell him to stick his grand. What a horrible message to send to someone you purport to love."All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.0 -

Not a very helpful comment and a tad judgemental of you if I could be so bold.
I think this is a very kind and supportive jesture which served as an incentive to encourage a healthier lifestyle.0 -
Ali - Good idea about the wedding dress! I've been going out with the boyf for a couple of years now and we've been talking (and I've been hinting!) so hopefully next year I may need some of the money for a wedding dress. If I'm honest then in the back of my mind I was thinking I wanted to be a slim bride and with over 5 stone to lose it was going to take me a while!!
I don't think that my Dad has been rude by offering the money. He loves me whatever I do and clearly shows it a all of the time. I thought it was a kind incentive because he wants me to be healthy. He said the comment in jest at a family meal a couple of years ago and you don't say things like that in our family without being held to it!!0 -

Take no notice of the one negative comment, the rest of us think your dad is a sweetie:D
Bravissimo for a few bras, M&S for some knickers.
A couple of pairs of nice jeans, I was always a fan of 501s when I was skinny. Some nice tops, maybe a couple of cashmere jumpers for winter M&S do them. A nice short mac or jacket, some long boots - how much have we left:) A little black dress, some killer heels (with lots of diamante on them).0
