Which Microwave?

Hello MSEs

I am looking to buy a microwave, never had one before...
Which one should i go for?
So far, I heard that Panasonic is the best make but which model do I go for?
Also, grilling function - what could this possibly be useful for, do I need it?

  • We bought a panasonic nn-st477s last year after paying a visit to the Which website after years of buying cheap hit or miss models and really rate it. It's easy to use and does everything right defrosting easily and accurately. It does'nt have a grill as we thought it would be messy and would need cleaning after this function was used.

    Thanks Hebridean,
What does nn stands for in the name, is it this one: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4260633/Trail/searchtext%3EPANASONIC+MICROWAVE.htm ?

See if you can check the internal dimensions to ensure things you might use for cooking/reheating will fit properly, such as jugs, bowls, mugs. Also check the diameter of the turntable. I'm looking for a combination microwave and increasingly infuriated by retailers and manufacturers who don't show pictures of the insides of microwaves nor how the grill-rack sits in it.
My present Panasonic is 15 years old and still fine , though I have read that their goods are much less robust these days.

Yes Thursday that Argos model looks the same as ours. Who knows what NN stands for, but it's written on the front of ours. It's also a good price as we paid £150 including delivery.

    Thanks all!
The only thing is it seams that model (st477s) is old one, no-one has it in stock, the nearest one I could find is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003DNSA26/ref=oss_product
and I am tempted to order.

The only diference I can detect is 7 as opposed to 5 settings, whatever that may mean... Am I right?
