Would you recommend selling on Ebay?

Mm, I've just made my first sale on ebay using paypal, I didn't realise that they charged commission, should have looked into in better (my own fault I realise!) I made a sale before but we did cash as they had to pick up the item anyway.
But how much does paypal charge? Is it a percentage or set amount? I've had money from quidco and they've never charged for that? If someone could spend a few secs on this stupidly basic question I would be very very greatful!!!
Many thanks!!

They charge 20p per transaction plus a %, 3%ish I think off the top of my head.
Have you actually been paid with paypal yet? If you don't have an upgraded account that will accept credit card payments, you'll have to upgrade before you can accept the payment anyway. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I think that was just the verification for your credit card? Did they take a random amount of money from your bank and then you had to enter that amount in paypal to verify your account?

Belles Verification and upgrading are not the same thing. If you upgrade to use your paypal account on ebay then you will pay fees on all future paypal payments inwards. This also applies to your Quidco payments.
It is therefore more usual to have two paypal accounts, one premier for paypal, and one basic for Quidco.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
