I have friends who live in Glasgow who commute through to Edinburgh who find it very expensive and very tiring. Quite often they only do this as a last resort because they can't secure a similar job in Glasgow and most only take the job until they can find an opportunity closer to home.
In theory, it's a 50 minute train journey but depending on where they live and work, the commute to Queens Street station, and then the onward travel onto their place of work, means it can be closer to 1.5 to 2 hours.
I wonder if your cousin has thought through the logistics of this, and the impact on his social life.
A standard monthly train ticket from Glasgow to Edinburgh is £280 pcm which is an enormous outlay on a student budget. I'm sure the coach service will be cheaper but subject to more delays as I understand the motorway between the two cities is terrible for traffic.0 -

Yes he has thought it through. He has basically been making that journey anyway since most of his friends stays and go out in glasgow. He can afford it and half way through the course he will get his travel enxpenses. He's thought it through and this is the best option for him. I appreciate the help Jowo bacause its helps to see others opinions on some things. I know I certainly wouldn't we willing to do that journey but its up to him.
Maybe I'll suggest to him he tries to do the journey one morning just to see how it would feel doing it everyday.0
