Please help, do i stay eon capped or move to eon online saver
Hi all,
Right i need to review alllll my budget, so you may see me around a bit :-)
My first question is i switched to EON last year when martin was yelling cap. Im now on E.ON Price Protection R3. I have just done a search and it says the EON online saver v3 is cheaper. (£1120 to £820)
I am unsure should i stay on the capped rate or move to the online saver?
Or do i move completly to OVO capped which is also cheaper at £896
thank you in advance.

I would suggest plugging your numbers into the online comparison sites and go with that. If you wish to remain with Eon then I would still run the numbers on the comparison sites and see what they have to say when you are armed with facts and figures.
Nobody can really say what is best for you as everyone is different and you wouldn't thank somebody for suggesting a plan change when your next bill rises.0 -
As Parva said everyone's circumstances are different so you need to make your own decision. However from my point of view I applied for Eon Online Saver (V2) and then decided that perhaps a discount rate wasn't the right way to go with possible price rises on the horizon. Opted out of Eon within the 14 day cooling off period and went to Ovo so at least I'll know what to budget for in the next 12 months. The slight downside with Ovo is that the direct debit will be higher in the months going into winter as it's linked to usage but that will be compensated for in the spring by lower DDs.
Ovo also has a higher standing charge but lower unit rates. This suits us because we are pretty high users but may not be right for you.
Hope this helps.0 -
I'm currently on price protection R3 too - I think that if I swap to Eon's Online Saver V3, I'll no longer get Tesco Clubcard points. That being the case, it does detract from the deal and makes the idea of a swap to Ovo more attractive, but I really can't decide!0

Hi sam
Our Price Protection R3 tariff replaced a previous capped product for customers already on an existing capped agreement.
As such, it carries a premium above our standard rates and is, therefore, currently more expensive than other tariffs. However, it guarantees prices will not to be increased before May 2011.
This type of tariff is basically for customers who want the certainty of knowing what their energy prices are going to be for an extended period.
It may be you no longer want this security and prefer savings now rather than in the future. As there are no tie-ins with R3, you can switch tariff/supplier easily.
I would do as Parva says and pop your usage in kWh on to one of the comparison sites. This will list all your options both with us and the other suppliers.
Just a quick heads up sam; we don't give discount on the final bill when changing supplier, so it would be best to time a switch away to lessen the impact of this.
Hope this helps a little. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Hi bartman
Just to confirm, Tesco Clubcard points are not available on Saveonline 3.
