Although a long time reader of MSE, not much of a poster, would really like to praise the premier inn, Blossom Street South, York.
We have just had a 1 night stay, (we being Me, the missus, and 3 children) a very nice, basic, "sleep over" as my 7 year old stated.
The staff were fantastic, (and didnt moan when I had an aversion to a rogue mushroom on my plate - I have a phobia) friendly, and very accomodating.
Yes, the beer wasnt cheep, although the missus thought that was a good thing, but for a family of five, a nite for just 69 pounds was very good value. The meal we had was probably more than I liked, but the extra service we recieved made up for this, - i.e I orded a rare steak, and requested no mushrooms (can't stress this enough, I have a fairly serious phobia about them) and when the plate came, yep, there was a mushroom, a big mushroom. BIG MUSHROOM. Unfortunatly, I had to send the plate back... I know I could have ate around the mushroom, but trust me, not an option
. The staff had no issues, returned with a mushroom free plate and the steak was bloody lovely...(I also know the chef may very well have rubbed that damned mushroom over the replaced steak but hey hoe, I didnt know about it.
The breakfast was excellent also... 7.95 is expensive, but in mycase, with 3 kids eating free with an adult meal (all you can eat) was great. Sausages, eggs, ceral, orange juice, unlimited costa coffee?
All in all, a fantastic family weekend, albeit in the middle of the week, and I cant reccommend the Premier Inn enough..

hello, i live in york - if yuo want to eat cheaply there is a wetherspoons on the corner of micklegate and nunnery lane, its called the punchbowl - it goes back quite a way so you can usually get seated towards the back, it does good cheap breakfasts too.
literally a few yards from either of the premier inns on blossom street.
hope this helps'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0
