Here are two warnings.
The above conservatory Company agreed to build one for us, including a bathroom, at GBP18500 by 28/5/10. They did not build it at all, having taken months to clear the 3 permits which could have applied; planning permission - not needed, building regulations - needed, Welsh Water approval - needed. I myself obtained the latter permit due to their slowness. They then asked for an extra GBP4500, saying the Building Regs requirements had increased the costs. We said no and asked for a price excluding the bathroom this being the reason why building regs approval was needed. The price for the conservatory alone was GBP18340! Just GBP160 less than the contract price including the bathroom! This proved they were simply trying to increase the price. Its the old builder's trick of quoting a low price to rope you in, and then when you have spent money on permits and other bits and pieces, i.e. when they think you are committed, they up the price. They will promise you anything to get you signed up e.g. doing it by a specifc date, getting the permits for you, quoting a competitive price. They operate in the South Wales area but they also go over the border into England. They refuse to give us our GBP1850 deposit back so I intend to take them to court. They do not appear to have any premises of their own and appear to work from their homes - Roger Oxlade of Abergavenny - Salesman who kept saying he wasn't! and Mark Ferrie - Managing Director, no address given - run the show. Another lesson, no work no money i.e. never give a deposit. Only pay builders on progress on the ground.
Concerning Trusted Local Suppliers, needless to say they are not to be trusted!

I would remove your phone number0

Best to remove your number as Freddie says. Also, people can send you a personal message through this forum - you don't need to put personal details in your post.
I hope you have contacted Trading Standards:

I did report the problem to Caerphilly Council's Trading Standards Department but I received no response.
Thank you for going to the trouble of giving the Consumer Direct website link. I have now sent them details and asked if they have anything on this Company.0 -
Not clear why people suggest I remove my phone number. No reason is given for this.
People might not want to tell everybody about any information they have on this Co. so they may not want to put it on this website, for their own (personal) reasons.0
