Pay by direct debit or not?
Do you think there is any real advantage in paying your Gas and Electricity Bills by monthly Direct Debit or waiting until the Quarterley Bill comes in and then pay it off in full?
I seem to be mostly in credit with Scottish Power (they read my meter every quarter as I work from home and am usualy in when the call around) but they refuse to lower the direct debit below a certain amount so I thought I might convert to quarterly billing.

They are obliged to give you your credit back and reduce the monthly payment. Why not try and tell them that you are going to leave and see what effect it has? Good luck.0
