Hi
i have a now unneeded iphone 3g, ex contract ( when the contract ended i kept the phone and went PAYG, which is insured by carphonewarehouse and was going to give it to my brother for a birthday present.
I was. Wondering if the phone could still be insured if the policy is in my name as i would pay the insurance for him.

for your situation, I think the phone should still be insuranced against the policy.0

I would phone them to check and/or get a copy of the policy sent to you and read it carefully. As I would suggest with any policy, as you would be surprised how much seemingly identical or standard policies can differ.

For example, some phone insurance bought with a contract phone won't cover the phone if it doesn't have the contract SIM in it.
At the end of the day, an insurance company claims deapartment will have no flexibility when it comes to the policy wording, it's either valid or not and they won't pay out just because you have the moral high ground by paying for the insurance.
"A bank* is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain."
(*Unless it's Santander. The branch says they sent you an umbrella 3 times already and don't understand why you don't have it yet and want it back right now!!!)0 -
Like ganonman says you need to check the wording very carefully as there are some *cough* loopholes in policies that will leave you uninsured unless you meet the conditions.
Which policy do you have then it can be looked into further. If its lifeline which policy level?
