Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

If you read any university website, they reserve the right to withdraw/ alter offers due to circumstances beyond their control. This is a situation that would be beyond their control.

OP, whilst I hope you do get your place on the course, there is no way to compel them to let you study.
It's slightly different at this stage though, especially since the OP has a conditional offer.

Many thanks for the replies. Yes we have seen that they can revoke due to unforseen circumstances Hopefully it will all be fine! They big wigs at the uni are not even having a meeting about this until tuesday, looks like i'm going to spend the whole bank holiday weekend worrying! i'm litrally going out of my mind. Hopefully they will understand the seriousness of our situation and my place will stand. I feel totally let down by this coalition government - what was it David Cameron said about helping people who want to do the right thing and help themselves! Maybe my partner should of just screwed over his work but he's not like that!

Hi sorry just to make clear I have a unconditional offer as I have passed every criteria! this is supposed to mean my place is secure.

I even keep getting Email saying i'm in! it's totally heartbreaking I worked so hard for this place and passed my access course with distinction top of the class and my partner worked nights around my college work and I took my final exam two weeks before we had our second baby! It was very hard work and now feels like it could of all been for nothing.

If my place does get deferred to be unable to claim JSA due to govenment cutbacks seems like a kick in the teeth!

Oh good, fingers crossed that is the case, the position on this seems a bit of a grey area. It doesn't seem to be something that is done as such there is little information available. Lots on people who have not meet conditions but nothing on people who are totally unconditional and have been given a start date.

I have also telephoned UCAS who weren't much help, they pretty much said it shouldn't happen and rarely does but the university get the final say so who knows guess its just a waiting game but I have money set aside to get on the train and go down to the office in person and try and get this sorted if they do try to revoke my place. Maybe i'll just sit in the reception until someone finds me a place!
