Advice wanted Re: laptop keyboard

When my son types something on his Acer Laptop certain letters make it go back to his screen saver so he can never complete a word only some of the letters do this such as the L or the R.

This happens all the time when doing a search on google.

I would be very greateful if someone can help.
Thanking you Drinda.

Thank you tonynw, we have tried another keyboard but it still the same.

When he uses the M L R and B button it clears the screen back to the screen saver.

Any other ideas please, would a complete reinstall sort it out.

Is there any possibility that the Windows key is stuck down (bottom left, to the right of Ctrl - probably!)? One or two of the letters you mention can cause interesting results if you press WinKey rather than Ctrl.

Thank you John Gray, it was the fn key stuck although it didn't look stuck, we have spent over a week trying to sort this out so we won't forget that one in a hurry.
    Thanks again Drinda.
