my wife is a carer for her mother and i have took on the household responsilbilitys.

Here is the Business link website which will help you with the information you need to start up a business amongst other informative information.
Business Link
As for coming off benefits you need to phone the various benefit departments and let them know that you are wanting to come off benefits to start your own business, The best place to go to for further advice would be your local jobcentre. If coming off housing allowance and or council tax then you need to speak to your council who you claimed the benefit at.
If i am right then when coming of Income support they may allow a run on payment which could last up to 2 weeks after you inform them, i could be wrong but ask them when you phone them to let them know of you wanting to come of benefits/working part time.
Working part time will effect all benefits but im unsure about if it will effecr carers allowance as the allowance is not for either you or your wife, i would check with Citizens advise or the job center about that.
I hope this information helps and I wish you well in your business venture.0 -

Bear in mind that simply setting up a business doesn't necessarily count as "remunerative work". Depending on all of the facts, you should normally only be treated as working once you have actively sought to start trading.0

Hi,
My hubby has been on contributions based jsa for 26 weeks and is now trying to start his own business. He is now receiving £50 per week for the next 13 weeks as some sort of start up your own business payment. Not sure what it is called and the chap at the JC said they don't mention it to many people?
Don't know if this may help?0 -
