Advice on media player

Hi
DS who is severely autistic uses movies as part of his therapy which is behavioural reward based.
Anyway the small media player that we used has failed and we need to buy something better.
we would like something reliable and we think maybe something that can hold all his backup copies in the player so we dont have to keep swapping USB sticks, so it would need a hard drive.
we have had some of the cheap brands, xenta, nikkai etc but feel now we need something that will really last.
so which would be suitable and work well?
Thanks
Neil
