do you think i can reclaim PPI?

has anyone got any advice about reclaiming PPI?

i have an old credit and store cards and a bank loan from barclays that have all ended within the past three years. i defaulted on them but they are now all paid and satisfied, will i be able to reclaim any PPI and if i have no paperwork from when they were taken out how do i know if they had PPI on them?

thanks for any advice.

    Hi and welcome

You have every right to make a reclaim on the ppi, for instance if this was mis sold to you from the start, and if you defaulted on them, I assume it was with recoveries perhaps? then on a payment plan?
If so the ppi would have therefore been worthless to you, especially if you were unable to make a claim for example, sickness/unemployment etc due to the reasons of why you were in a defaulted postion.
Did you ever try making a claim?

If you still have the account numbers, then there is no harm in continuing without any paperwork, but if you think it would help, you could request a Subject Access Request (SAR) where they have 40 calendar days to comply, and send all they still hold on you.
There is a £10 cheque or postal order charge for this, that you enclose with the SAR letter.
The letter template for this is here:

To make a reclaim, you pursue the ones who sold and set up your policy (it makes no difference if the accounts are active or settled), you can do this by completing the FOS questionnaire, this can be used instead of a template reclaiming letter, complete and send to whoever responsible, and keep copies as well.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond, and they may ask for more time, this is fine, but if they do not give you a favourable response by the final decision, you have the right to complain to the FOS.

Please note the FOS issued these questionnaires, so you can use to send to the ones your complaining and making a reclaim from, do not get confused with the FOS complaints form.
The FOS questionnaire is below, further down the link as stage one.

Hope this helps, good luck and ask for help anytime, good luck.;)
